Hi there,
go to the customizer:
>> Advanced > Spacing and set all margin to "0"

I had already tried setting two of those savings to zero but this had no effect. The other two settings appear grayed-out as if they can't be edited but now I have tried to change those two to zero they have changed. The space has now disappeared. Problem solved. Thank you for your help again.
