Article ordering on mobile devices

Hi,

I'm currently working with jp-city to make an existing site mobile friendly and have run into a strange problem with article ordering on tablets and mobile phones. On a "normal" computer the ordering is fine - most recent first, but on mobile devices it is reading each column vertically from top to bottom rather than from left to right.

To explain what I mean, the image below shows the articles on a desktop computer with the order the articles should be displayed in. This is correct:

The image below shows the order the articles are displayed on a tablet or phone, which is incorrect:

I'm assuming that since the ordering is correct on a desktop the settings are good so have no idea where to start troubleshooting this.

Further investigation revealed this is a known problem that's been outstanding for a long time. See:
