Here there is a link for customizing the 404 page

But this link does not work anymore. Can't find anywhere how to customize and create your own 404 page. any documentation for this?

Thanks for your answer, but I know where the error page is. This is just a php file. Does this mean there is no way to create an error page in joomla with this template, with the use of module positions? I have to create a whole individual page?

Hello,
if you want your own error page you have to create a php file.
Maybe you can take the file > layouts/theme.php and copy all content into the error.php
